You may also want to look into buying some haircutting ribbon also. This type of ribbon enables you to evenly cut your hair if you want a blunt cut. Keep in mind that you’ll probably need a buddy to either cut or hold the ribbon, however.

Next, you need to decide what kind of cut you want before you start. This can include pretty much anything from a blunt cut to a softer, lighter cut. This way you won't make any mistakes before you start cutting.

If you plan on putting layers in your hair but you want it to be a bit shorter, you need to do one of two things: First, you can use the feathering scissors in order to cut AND layer your hair. Or you can cut your hair until it is one and a half inches away from your layer goal and then layer it. By using the second method, you make it a little bit easier to not make any mistakes.
